The EndA Poem by Dushyant PatniTale of a broken heart. The weight of a thousand shattered dreams Rests upon his eyes each night that he sleeps The alcohol flowing through his veins Only allows him reprieve from reality Not from his pain Light never reaches his eyes The windows of the soul clouded by mist and fog Of times and memories gone Kisses on foreheads and hugs with content sighs The storm hit without a warning Without any flurry, thunder or lightning The ground beneath his feet swallowed him whole Into suffocating depths of doubt and guilt He held on for dear life to the pillar of his love Built upon the faith he had that she was the same But who has ever stood against the winds of change? And a kite was cut adrift in the sky Floating aimlessly on the world's tides He landed on an island that was to become His purgatory, hell and heaven Till the day he painted a picture of his death On the white porcelain tub He framed it in the last beat of his shattered heart With a long forgotten promise of never being apart © 2014 Dushyant PatniAuthor's Note
