Fallen Angel

Inspired by a loss of faith.

Forsaken by the courage once found

Rust slowly creeping up the restraints

Faith eroding in the winds of scorn

Hope fading under the waning twilight

Rapture seems light years away

Voices of the Host washing away

Hovering on feathers growing heavier

Dragged down towards the nadir

Of the coal black velvet of the night

Gagging his frantic attempts

Dampening the echoes of his screams

The only mistake that was made

Worshiping a love hidden behind a pall

The blade of the Seraph

Burning through the wings

Streams of ichor flowing down his spine

Pools of turmoil forming at his feet

A surge of emotions never felt before

Crashing against the shore of his soul

Shredding away the last vestiges of divinity

Kneeling to rise again

With eyes finally able to see

The illusion of free will

The false promise of Destiny

Eternity can seem like that, the lineage of the fallen angels, birth death and resurrection will the feeding never end, the illusion of free will, eloquent indeed, the false promise of destiny? not quite, for there is always that hope that is not manacled to the husk of a personal soul.
