Despair

Something I wrote at a very difficult point in my life. Its not perfect, but its very personal.

Floating amidst the clouds of my own ineptitude

Like an anchor-less ship roaming the seas evermore

Each moment filled with longing and doubt

Searching for an answer that cant be found

Days and Nights pass together in a whirl

Shadows and demons the only companions

The icy fingers of the past creeping,

Towards the flickering flame of hope

Despair abounds, dragging me down

Weighing my wings with chains of my ghosts

Struggling to soar, losing control

As I crumble beneath the onslaught

My armor chipping away with each blow

My hands grow weary under the shield

Every fiber of my being crying for release

Burning with the pain; of a lifetime of misery and hate

The embrace of the abyss, warm and welcoming

Draws its arms tighter around me

The sun is just a pinprick in the sky

The moon was lost amidst the sighs

Despair…
