Chapter One

"

So for those of you who have read this things are a bit different and for those who are haven't your in for something different.

"

Weaving her way through the wood, she thought back to the prophecy. It was something that rarely left her mind. How could one forget about how their destiny had to do with if hundreds would live or die. If Katerina and her failed then death would crash upon these people like a wave crashes upon the shore. The prophecy left so much unknown. Akila, the high priestess of Luna 65 years ago was the prophet who had spoken of the daughters.

On the night of her death Akila wrote, "I will go to the eternal home tonight. Luna is taking me home to the sky where I shall live forever as a star. But she has charged me with one last thing before I am to be welcomed home. She has spoken to me. There is one of darkness who is not of darkness. Her features will tell you she is a pure dark elf child though she comes from the midland. The other shall come from the white tower. A pure embodiment of light. These princesses will be the embodiments of the two nations. They will save the nations from a war that would destroy us all." And those were her last words before she entered our mother's kingdom.

Lilith was the embodiment of the perfect dark elf. Her skin was the color of the moon on the darkest winter night. Her hair darker then any raven's wings and her eyes the shade of wild violets.Even though she had been raised in the Grey Lands her mentality was that of a pure dark elf. Vengence was a second language of which Lilith spoke fluently. Her morals rarely matched any of those around her. She wasn't a simple elf by any means. She was a princess and a commoner. She never thought of herself as a normal resident of the Grey Lands.

The Grey Lands were thought to be a mongrel land. One birthed from light and dark elves who wanted to be together. The country was never thought of as a true country by the lights or the darks. The light elves pittied those of the Grey Lands because they thought of them as poor lost souls who would come to the light soon enough. The dark elves disagreed completely. The felt nothing more then contempt for those who lived in within the Grey Walls. Dark elves could not stand to watch their blood being polluted by their light counterparts.

Belonging to the Royal family made her a key person inside and outside the walls though she was rarely allowed to leave the walls. She and Klara, her mother, spent a week in Eclipse. Eclipse was a major trade city within the walls. Though Lilith had been there many times in her past she could feel that this trip was going to be important. If she had any clue how right she had been she probably would have refused to go. For it was on this trip where she met Iris.

The woman and Klara spoke for a few minutes while Lilith were left with her guards. Ailbe, was a white elf of about fifty who had moved to the Grey Lands to have a family with his dark elf wife. Ailbe had been her guard since she was little and his wife, Branna, was her caretaker. Her other guard was a young man of about 25 years old, Lorcan. He was one of the fiercest royal guards. Lilith watched as many of the women talked with Lorcan. She stayed closer to Ailbe, trusting him far more then the new guard.

Klara had called for her, "Lil, darling could you come here I want you to meet someone" That was when she met Iris. The woman her mother wanted her to meet couldn't have been more then ten years older than her. Which would have made 26 years old. She was a true grey elf. One born with the traits of both. Her ocean blue eyes betrayed her light heritage while the raven tresses flowing past her waist betrayed the dark. "Lilith, this is Iris. She is the high priestess of Luna. She has requested a council with me. seeing as I couldn't leave you at the castle I want you to go and have Ailbe take you to find a snack at the market."

That's when her gift made itself known. She saw something in her mind. A man was going to attack Lorcan, screaming about how Lorcan had stolen his daughter's virtue. She screamed, "Ailbe, get the man to the left of Lorcan. He has a dagger hidden beneath his cloak. He plans to kill Lorcan" Even as she screamed the man was forced to the ground and the dagger forced from his hand.

That was when Ailbe looked at her and said, "Lilith, how did you know he was armed?"Lorcan was holding the man to the ground. Cursing him for trying to kill him in fron of so many people. Ailbe walked over to Lilith and gently shook her. "How did you know? How did you notice that when neither of us could? Lilith Radha Grey how did you know?"

Lilith couldn't fight the tears as they escaped, "I don't really know. Images flashed in my mind. I heard him screaming of Lorcan. I don't know why it happened!" She was shaking with fear. Looking up she noticed that the woman Klara had been speaking to had move forward.

Iris grasped her hand and brought her to her feet. "You, he called you Radha! Who gave you that name? Speak child!" Iris was causing a scene and frightening Lilith. She soon realized this and dragged both Klara and Lilith to a temple. Looking at Lilith she said, "This is my Goddess. Now child I must know have you ever seen her before? Has she ever appeared to you in your visions?"

Lilith looked at the statue, recognizing this woman as one who often visited her dreams. "I have seen her before. In my dreams, she is a constant guest. She calls herself Nocturne."

"Yes, yes she does. Though that is one of her many names. Klara, come I must talk to the little one too. I must speak to the little one, and this is not the place to be doing so," Iris said. She guided them through the market place to a temple. A statue of the goddess stood proud in front of the building. As Lilith looked at the statue it turned to her and smiled. Iris saw this and looked at the child, "You dear one are truly blessed by the goddess." Lilith was frieghtened by the statue, by this woman, by this vision. Iris continued to lead them into the temple, stopping to look at the guards she said, "You have no buisness in my mother's house. I would appreciate it if you would stay outside, your charges will be kept safe."

Lorcan started to argue but was quieted by one look from Klara.
