To and Artist's Eye

To and Artist's Eye

A Poem by Dunn95
"

I have never really done much poetry before, but I actually loved doing it. It was an assignment I had for AP Lit and I felt it couldn't hurt to share it here.

To an Artist’s Eye

By: Steven T. Dunn

A world so large,

A world so full,

A world so busy

Does contain so much more,

But in my mind,

So small and confined,

I hope for light

So that I may paint

Pictures full of delight.

Skies become swirls of fire,

The land now lost in color.

The World’s light divides

Into the strokes of Monet

And to the thick expressions

Of Vincent van Gogh.

The World’s scenery becomes,

To what and Artist’s eye may see,

Not only a mere depiction

Of what can be seen,

But into a desperate plea.

A call for expression.

A call for understanding.

My mind reaches out

Toward this world

So large, so full, so busy.

Reaching to find meaning,

Yet realizing that I,

So lost in fanciful dance,

Lost in the symphonies of thought

That amplify my existence,

Have finally found

The complex harmonies of expression

That allow my interpretive mind,

So content in the observation

Of such a place,

To enlighten and contribute

To such an immense

And saturated world.
