Shadow Sonnet

Shadow Sonnet

A Poem by Duncan Brown

This solid veil betrays us on the dust

As our sinister twin travels hopefully

Crisscrossing silhouettes in our midst

Shadowing shadows upon our journey

Enlightened we cast a darkened shape

Trespassing against each soul’s trespass

Our unsoiled self wanders thus agape

Greeting stranger shapes across our pass

Our frames traverse inside mortal cloth

Assailed by thought in shallowest cast

We drape our dreams in waking truth

As the self weaves thru our present past

Shadow ventures with each soul in time

We are its mirrored flesh in solid mime.
