Pere-Lachaise

Pere-Lachaise

A Poem by Duncan Brown

Pere-lachaise is just the place
to be a writer for
Morrison and Oscar have taken up
a permanent residence
Hugo is beautifully miserable there
and Balzac just loves the dead
life can be very funny; he says
among the tombs and catacombs
in the necropolis of the city of light
a place to die for.

Alluringly dark. I like this. I've heard about the place. It has the largest cemetery or something. Anyways, I really like how you invoked the names of literature greats to help bolster the allure of death in a metaphorical light. Again, I say, beautifully poem. Worded rightly and definitely a great one.

Look forward to more from you. Keep writing.
