Bobby's Harmonica

Bobby's Harmonica

A Poem by Duncan Brown

That howlin’ rage against iniquity

Ripped the tranquil soul of music

And took it to some sacred place

Shattering gravity’s leaden inertia

With that beautiful violent sound

When freedom played those blues

Blowin’ images like Picasso’s art

Screaming anger from the ground

At those heavens refusing to listen

Raging against the world’s injustice

An’ sometimes soft with memory

Reflecting tenderly on the sorrows

Lighting our nights of tomorrows

In colour that nourished our future

With the sustenance of raging music

Shattering the nerves of cruel injustice

Shivering coloured dreams an’ hues

In sounds that shook our very shoes

When Bobby howled harmonica blues.

"Bobby's Harmonica"
Duncan Brown,
Anger, frustration, and whatever spurs a soul to respond... Whether the inner feeling is negative or positive or anything in between. We are in process. We are all changing all the time. This was a beautiful poem full of many textures of the reality of being human. We are so full of creativity, of potential. I suppose that this poem is about a certain person but to me it is the song of everyone because we all have times where we want to "tell it like it is" at least at any given time or circumstance or time of life.
Thanks for writing. You inspire.
blessings,
Kathy
