Parenthesis

(help me stop drinking)
that feels less scary to write
when it’s wrapped in parenthesis.
Like saying I love you for the first time
but with your eyes closed
or how the world felt less scary
with you wrapped around me
like parentheses.

this is a terrific poem. can't believe no one has given it a review. the opening line is a killer and the rest of the poem hits the set up right out the park.
