Aim Of Christian Education An IAM Group Limited Seoul, Korea ReflectionA Story by DulceA story of a teacher planning his class in a Christian wayIn my opinion I feel the Biblical basis of
educational ministries is to help people obtain knowledge on the Christian
faith, teachings, beliefs, etc. In my Christian education walk with IAM Group
Limited, I would like to help educate high school students. My goal is to lead
these kids into adulthood prepared with the knowledge to overcome the world. I
want the learner to go away with more than facts, figures, and useless
information…but I want my students to go away with life changing ideas,
thoughts, and wisdom. They are so used to hearing about Noah and the ark, but
how is that applied to life? These kids know the basics; they need to know how
it affects them, and what they should do with it. The role of the Bible in my Christian
education system is a resource. It is the tool, which holds tons of wisdom. You
look to it for questions, as well as answers. When students ask questions, I
will turn towards the Bible to answer it. Other sources beyond the Bible will
be used as different interpretations of what’s written/implied in the Bible.
These sources are like supplements of the Bible that we can use to help us in
answering questions where the Bible leaves off. The teacher is like Christ and needs to be
held accountable for their actions. They are a light in this dark world. They
have received the gift of God and should teach this gift wholeheartedly. In
Proverbs 6:23 the Lord states, “For these commands are a lamp, the teaching is
a light.” These teachers need to be students themselves, and constantly
learning at all times to keep on top of their work. They are in a never-ending
cycle in which the learner becomes a teacher becomes a learner again. If you
stopped learning, you’d stop teaching. What else would you have to teach? The
teacher needs to constantly be on top of things going on around them so as to
know what they are up against in this world, and what they have going for them.
The learner in this class basically needs
to be between the ages of fourteen and eighteen ready with an open mind. I
would like all learning styles to be involved in the class to create a variety,
and so you can receive all different kinds of input. The mature person is the
student who teaches, and is taught by students. This person is constantly
learning, and being shaped. We are like pieces of clay, and we are constantly
being shaped and formed…but I feel we will never be finished. We will always
have things to do, become, learn, see, feel, etc. This world is so infinite
that there is no possible way to have everything. Extremely thick carpet, in a semi-large
room with funky couches would be my ideal space. I would love to have the
students decorate the room the way they feel it would best suit their learning
needs. I would have tons of Bibles, and other books, sources, Internet
available for our use. I also would have art supplies readily available for the
students to work on projects, the room, etc. The room would be a reflection of
our class. It would be a very casual meeting. Students from all walks of life
would come for that too short time to live, learn, and love God together.
I believe my aim and the execution of that
aim would work. Between the small group, and individual work this can be
accomplished. We are a resource for these students to come in and find ways to
obtain knowledge on the Christian faith, teachings, beliefs, etc. That’s
basically the student’s needs. The needs for spiritual, emotional,
intellectual, and psychological growth are met. It is a pretty awesome set up.
And hopefully in time, I will be able to have this type of setup somewhere,
perhaps in Yokohama, Japan where I hear IAM Group Ltd has a large member base. © 2014 Dulce |
