Overdose

Overdose

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Everything was switched to "you." Sometimes I have trouble making everything consistent because I don't think consistently. haha A retrospective poem written toward myself.

"
Destinies haunted your soul
and melodies caved in around you;
darkness is all you'll find
when you look down the wrong avenue.

Killing summer to autumn heat,
replaced by frostbite of December.
You were on top just so briefly before,
but what got you down, you can't remember.

Everything left you in that December,
you tried to remember what you were losing.
Everything faded and you were shaking -
all of this was just about proving.

Dissolving was never so soothing
when you thought that dissolving would fix you.
In that night, overdose was all that you had,
but overdose was never the truth.

Overdose was never the truth,
it was only an excuse.

I just recently got back from the hosptial because I tried to overdose,
so this really speaks to me. Also it has great imagery.

The poem tells a sad story. I can feel the hurt and disappointment. The line "Overdose was never the truth" leave me with questions. A very good poem.

I'm a little confused :S
The poem starts off with "me", then it goes into "you" and finishes with "I". It was hard for me to tune into the poem for that reason. I was never sure whether you were talking about somebody else or yourself, because there are lines that reinforce both.
