Saved

Saved

A Poem by Breezie Kae

Look out:
I'm not so crazy.
I was saved by the bell or perhaps some thought,

but that's not what I'm here for.

I'm here to tell you
that the goddamn cliche didn't lie,
there is a silver lining.

I'm coming from the brink of death with a story:
I don't regret a thing.
The death in me has made me appreciate life.

It sure is ironic
that nothing has given me more faith than suicide.

I never want it after I try.

It's true, survivors are usually glad
when they wake up alive.
They didn't lie.

It's not at all ironic
that I'm better at life than dying,

and it's not at all ironic
that life truly is beautiful.

Take my word for it.
