A Message to You

A Message to You

A Poem by Breezie Kae

It’s funny being the confidant

and not the one confiding,

the other end of the spectrum.

Long I have talked to almost-strangers

about subjects like depression and lost love.

I can tell so clearly,

even through typed words,

that you’re attracted to me.

Trust me,

I’ve been in your shoes.

Yeah, we connect through lost love

and all of that hopelessness,

but I’ll be frank,

I’m not into it.

Nothing against you,

I just don’t want something

based on what I’m letting go of.

I just want something simple.

I want to hold someone’s hand,

not share someone’s woe.
