You Have a Girlfriend Now

You Have a Girlfriend Now

A Poem by Breezie Kae

Is it smiles that you seek,

or are you too weak at the knees?

And I can still get down,

you have a girlfriend now.

I’m still beautiful, I still deserve you.

Life is still good, as it should,

you have a girlfriend now.

You have a girlfriend now and I want to cry

my life away, for the matter of this night,

because I’ll never be brave enough to reach you.

You have a girlfriend now, I can’t look you in the eyes,

I can’t forget that time you looked into mine,

but if it meant anything at all, tell me the truth.

I can still hide,

only now I have an excuse.

Never follow through,

you have a girlfriend now.

You still make me tingle, you still make me swoon.

Now I’ll never get to you,

you have a girlfriend now.

I still want to touch you,

I still want to make you sigh,

I still want to love you,

I still want to know that you know why.
