Seize the Day Before it Seizes You

Seize the Day Before it Seizes You

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Written during the summer between sophomore and junior year.

"

Why are you so empty?

Why can’t you start to see

that you’re wasting your time, and you know that it’s true,

when all these clichés mean way too much to you.

See the sun shine on this

green earth, you know it’s hopeless.

You’ve got burnt out dreams and these broken songs,

when there’s nothing to do and you can’t go wrong.

And it’s words,

they make no sense,

in this world

and my ignorance.

For the worse,

or maybe for the best.

You’ve got yourself a mess.

You’ve got yourself a, mess.

Your mind races again,

slow down take a breath.

You’re on top of the world and it feels so good,

but you’re speaking too fast, saying more than you should

Live this moment, goddamn,

I can’t see where I am.

Stuck in a daze, skipping back and forth,

searching for something that’s right there, or

these words,

they make no sense,

in this world

and my ignorance.

For the worse,

or maybe for the best.

You’ve got yourself a mess.

You’ve got yourself a, mess.
