Imaginary

Imaginary

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Written during sophomore year. EDITED!

"

Thoughts don’t flow;

they ricochet harshly,

flinging themselves against empty skull,

piercing down into your stomach

somewhere between your heart

and where your soul should be.

But hell,

the chaos greeted you quite fondly,

don’t you think?

It invited you to understand something,

to look at everything

painfully, artistically, and completely

against your nature.

Sunny, optimistic,

dead.

Dreary like that stereotypical

darkness those poets always write of.

Dark because there’s nothing to shed light on.

You search anyway.

But once you step into the abyss, you fall;

no bottom, no ending,

and no one quite knows what’s down there.

For all you know,

you could fall into a bed of rainbows.

Is there light on the way down?

That could just be you

floating

up,

or dying.

I’ll bet on the dying,

but by nature, I cling to the floating.

The poem was a wild ride with your words. Such power and strength with each added line. Sometime in chaos we can learn where we should be. A outstanding poem. Made me think.

Whoa that hit me. The imagery in this piece makes ones head spin, or go numb. I like it!
