Tainted Lullabies

Tainted Lullabies

A Poem by Breezie Kae
"

Written during freshman year.

"

Hide your scars,

hide your tears,

hide your love,

hide for years.

I’m not much of a composer,

my words are lies.

But so are yours,

nothing but a disguise.

But can you see

the space between the words,

unspoken words,

you know all the while.

But were you worth

the space between the words?

And when will this empty space

disappear?

When will your name

lose its meaning?

And when will you say

"I’ve never felt this way?"

When will you say…

For the first time

I felt mutuality,

so then you went to

hide.

I can’t help but know

it could have been.

Make up your mind,

we lost our time.

Feel this,

know this,

want this,

die for this.

When will this empty space

disappear?

When will your name

lose its meaning?

And when will you say

"I’ve never felt this way?"

When will you say…

I feel this,

I feel you,

I feel everything you do,

I feel faith,

I feel lies,

I feel tainted lullabies.

I feel this,

I feel you,

I feel everything you do,

I feel faith,

I feel lies,

I feel tainted lullabies.

Lullabies,

lift up your eyes.

Lullabies.

But you weren’t worth

the space between the words.
