We're no heroes

We're no heroes

A Poem by Jeb
"

Just a short little ditty.

"

Girl, you ain't no Joan of Arc,
but I'm no Louis le Sixteen.
We're pretty much one big demography,
that famous twelve-eighteen.
You can't fight progress ever.
We'll all be robots in the end.
So don't fear all the bangin' honey,
That's just John Henry's hammer suckin' wind.
I'd say you're more an Alice Roosevelt,
and I'm more a Bradbury.
I'll tell you about post-apocalypse,
and you tell me how to be queen.
Let's be clear we won't be martyrs,
and I'll gladly sell you out.
So in the meantime while we party,
we're no heroes there's no doubt.

I think this poem has a grasp on harsh reality and poetry is a great vehicle for powerful messages. Good poem! Keep writing what you know but once in a while try something unusual for you as a topic. Thank you for the compliment on Urban Warfare.
