![]() INSECUREA Poem by Dtone
Venus, Isis, Cleopatra She blazes the beauty of a goddess Perfection from hair to heel The pride of a potter’s hand And the desire of all men She is beautiful
Medusa after her curse from the gods I glaze imperfection from hair to heel A draft blotch of crayon on an amateur’s canvas Repulsive in the eyes of most men Don’t tell me that I am beautiful
Grace in every stride she paints Opportunities fall on her lap as if she birthed them If they don’t, she has a him to lean on Of course she is beautiful
Clumsy when I try to portray poise The only way forward is to work hard and alone Him treats me only like a friend, unless in dream, in fantasy and to gain sex. Don’t tell me that I am beautiful
Her tears are like diamonds When she cries, she is never alone Such beauty should know no pain they say She is way too beautiful
What have they to gain by catching my tears Tears mostly stirred by their rejection and lack of attention Tears of loneliness shed alone in pain Don’t lie that I am beautiful
When she smiles the world smiles Purity, love, goodness and humility complement her flawless being Beautiful both on the inside and on the outside Her beauty blotches away any mistakes she makes oh she is beautiful
When I smile, they grimace or smile back in pity My attempts at inner beauty are echoes with no receptors Secrets of my past are stains on my already blemished existence Don’t tell me that inner beauty is all that counts Don’t tell me that I am beautiful
Venus, Isis, Cleopatra She blazes the beauty of a goddess Perfection from hair to heel The pride of a potter’s hand And the desire of all men She is the one who’s beautiful © 2016 Dtone |
