LUST

 

In lust I’ve been, In love I’ve never been

Mastered the art of shielding my heart from emotion but

Eluded the craft of repudiating the flesh

Not even my rosary can redeem me from this darkness embedded in my flesh

 

Garbage in Garbage out, they say

Into my mind, the world’s grime

Out of my eyes grubby vision

In beauty I see shame

In chastity I see barrenness

 

Bound by chords I can’t untie

Danger lurking in my most intimate desires

Deriving pleasure from that which most disgusts me

Stealing from my own future love

 

Oaths sworn under the guilt after every act

Only to find myself in that web again

In and out I go

I’ve been pardoned four hundred and ninety times already

 

I am bound,
