Storm clouds were gathering in the sky as the sun made it's lazy decent towards the horizon.

Keen eyes watched the rabbit as it went along on this dull day, stealthily noting its every move.

The small animal seemed oblivious to the fact that it was being stalked, as it continued seeking out the small blades of grass. Settling even further down on his haunches, Deimos readied his muscles and waited for just the right moment to strike.

Years of practice had taught him the value of patience, so he kept himself in check. The rabbit turned away for just a moment, but that was just the signal he had been waiting for.

The large predator immediately released the hold on his sinewy muscles, bounding after his prey with great speed. In a few strides, he had reached the rabbit and latched his jaws around it in a deadly choke hold.

A few minutes later, it was over, and Deimos settled down to eat.

Ah, these were the days indeed. Deimos was alone and, for the most part, unbothered in his tranquil home. Though every day was a challenge to survive, it somehow brought a peace to his troubled heart. With the lone pup in tow, some prey in his stomach, and moving along the makeshift trails of the mountains, he had everything he could ever desire. Despite the days and nights spent hungry and shivering beneath an outcropping of rock, he could never ask for anything different. Perfection, in Deimos' eyes, came in the form of the rough and ragged mountains.

Lifting his now-bloody muzzle suddenly, a noise came to his ears, though he was not startled. The loud series of snapping twigs and the steady crunch of dead leaves underfoot was an obvious sign of Kota's arrival; no other sane creature could make such a racket.

Awkwardly aware of his disturbance, he held his ears back and tail low as he came within Deimos's sight. The latter only gave a slight bark of amusement, gesturing slightly with his head for the pup to join him in what was left of the meal. Kota, of course, more than happily obliged.

When both of their hungers were sated, they rested together there for a while, watching as the rain came down about them, heedless of the mountain peak's frowning stance cast upon them. Despite the quickly-darkening surroundings, they could still see the signs of winter wrapping her icy fingers about the land as fall sat in. All types of creature on the land were readying themselves for her embrace; gathering food to last the season of deadness that was coming soon.

Looking up to the setting sun, Deimos gave a contented sigh, hearing the steady breathing of the now-sleeping pup at his side. The rosy hues cast the land in a final, dazzling glow of color, a background to the rain that fell from the heavens, before plunging the world into darkness once more.

If this wasn't perfection, then he didn't know what was.
