Urban Autumn Meal

Urban Autumn Meal

A Poem by Désiré Desrosiers
"

Meals are so peaceful.

"

Despite how hectic life is,

I somehow feel relaxed,

peaceful.

Eating dinner,

outside on a bench.

A ham and cheese sandwich,

on wheat, cold.

To match with the night,

crisp like the smoked ham,

chilly like the cool cheese.

Skateboarders doing tricks,

the sound of the clicks echo.

The distant rev of engines,

like the soothing white noise we crave.

Columns of people, bustling,

rushing to their own business.

Colorful lights blinking to life,

as people grow more festive.

The cool air passes, sifting through my hair.

My hands grow numb, my sandwich,

is falling apart.

Despite how hectic life is,

I somehow find peace.

As my hand freezes stiff,

sandwich-less...
