A Mere Child

A Mere Child

A Poem by Désiré Desrosiers
"

Although I am young, that does not mean I am clueless. However, I am arrogant, or perhaps, too arrogant.

"

I’ve always known I was nothing

in the end.

But my arrogance and dignity has brought me up,

so I can recognize myself

and my potential.

I know I am young,

I am naive,

I am stupid,

but I thought I would be able to compare

and compete

with a middle-aged human.

What was I thinking?

Although I know I am nothing,

I still try to fight,

to show my worth.

In the end,

I am nothing.

I still have so much to learn,

being a youthful one.

I have many experiences to gain,

and many things to understand.

Right now,

I am just a mere child.
