Life-Jackets Instead of Angel WingsA Poem by Sweet & Tender HooliganEyes to the sea. Escape is out there somewhere like our dreams. Memories leave pieces of ourselves behind in the places where those memories were made. We're all strangers on the edge of the sea.Forlorn silhouettes the world closes in on us, Daydreamers pulled away by the tide of reality (Sick to the heart with love) Give in cause there's no sense in love. All too many thoughts (no escape from ourselves) I just can't switch myself off, Toing and froing of the mind, I should learn to be less sensitive. Wave upon wave begs you to 'be less beautiful' - its natural to be ugly. Everything I like always seems to get taken away, Wrapped up in wrinkles and wounds, I need to be loved and forgotten. Has far as I can see we're all strangers on the edge of the horizon, Tourists of life swept to sea (I am not your shore) shackles of love erode the mind. The tide turns and says this is not your day, Lonely sea colours paint the skies tears. The moon searches the sea and says this is not our year. Coming and going waves crash on rocks, suffocating individuality Life closes in on us, like grains of sand we're swept away. Forget angels wings we should come with life-jackets. We can't be different, we can't be nothing, we can't do nothing Life consumes us to death, death lives us and life is the death of us all. Time doesn't like anyone, It would be a relief if the universe didn't f**k with us. The sea is the eye of lust, the sea see's via touch The same way a blind person does to see things clearly. Shadows of trees proclaim we're still here, Shadows of people scream why am I here? Dreams taken by the invisible, You're what kills me and we're all heaven and hell. Needing only to die like a bad dream too heavy for the clouds, Asleep on a shore just let the sea take me and your pain away. We choose to not be here, Time in a bottle we all need to cling to something. Living within layers diving deeper into darkness Falling in love with the sea, I lost my strength And turned into a reflection of the tear-stained sky. That asks to be your death-wish. People of the sea, Watching the tide go out is such a sad sight of love been and gone. Do we leave pieces of our minds in the places of our memories? The heart is not a sketch that can be filled in with the sky or the sea. © 2011 Sweet & Tender HooliganAuthor's Note
