Stars Within Stars (A Sky Full of Scars)

Stars Within Stars (A Sky Full of Scars)

A Poem by Sweet & Tender Hooligan
"

There's poetry in everything.

"
Listen to your feet they're drawn to someone else's path.
Sometimes we should remind ourselves it could be worse.
Pull out your eyes and you'll see they're longing for things not there.

Feelings are like stars ashes of time leaving trails,
Constellation's of scars map life's romanticised truths.
Ignorance colours in the gaps of make believe,
Deep down there's poetry in everything.

Stars within stars - cosmic scars
(Invariably we're all mazes)
Empty relics filled with regrets.

Dreams buried in murderous land,
Thoughts of thoughts seeking escape.
Heartbeats sounding like a harmony of torture,
Drifting out to sea in the cosmos of a cluttered mind.

In our real news we're tired of ourselves,
Politics of the undead - all politics deprives.
In some real news the poor are swept away and buried,
Pages mourn for you - blank paper screams for life.
Eyes painted away mouths written over,
Poetry scribbled on flesh with invisible tears.

History maps pain,
Murderous land hides it's dead.
Life's battles swell guts tight and clench ribs,
The gut of the universe spews out dust and stars.

I like the width of thought and philosophical breath of this piece. "Constellation's of scars map life's romanticised truths" - great line. A poetry of deep thoughts to me is more meaningful than most other kinds, congrats.

Wooow.
You definitely have a talent. It really reads like a professional work. Have you ever heard a song or read a poem and you said to yourself, "There's something holding this back? It's amateur?" I read a lot of those poems and listen to a lot of those songs. Your poem is different from that -- it's like a poem read in one of those books full of poems that really good poets wrote.
Something I really liked about it was the word choice. I admire people who use amazing word choice. Your fluency and sense of rhythm was great as well.

I love the idea behind this piece: stars within stars. You have a way with words and images which speaks to the inner eye.
Pages mourn for you - blank paper screams for life.
Eyes painted away mouths written over,
Poetry scribbled on flesh with invisible tears...
