Memories; time, love and the things not there. Things that make us stronger can also scar us and stifle us. We give and take pieces of one another's life's away.
Full of questions that can only be answered with questions
Is it really brighter on the other side of life?
Can you understand, life is difficult at any age.
Is it really worse being any older?
Do you understand, your love only knows how to torture.
Too heavy hearted to live,
Too weak to die.
Has far as you can go,
Has much as you can take.
You're frightened of life
And you're frightened of dying.
Hiding away in dreams terrible things happen to us all,
Memories are luggage that we carry around.
If only I knew how to be completely distant.
Looking for things that are not there,
Turning to things that are not even there.
We used to spend our days without love,
What makes any other day any different?
Effeminate days bullied by whatever lads are supposed to be
Once our world was full of Britpop posters.
Staying out longer than allowed playing football all day,
Dressed like little Manic Street Preachers.
Drinking and listening to music all night,
Now I'm frightened of Britpop posters and stay in doors all day.
Nightmares are made of what we were or what we're meant to be
I'd still do anything to go back to those imperfect days.
Losing ourselves for another side of life in someone else's shoes
Stifled by time falling into memories, where does all the time go?
Haunted by ourselves in everything we do, seconds blow into minutes
Changes are easier when unplanned, hours just turn into our days.
Always minutes away from something else, its harder to chance when you plan
Before you know it your days disappear into years.
If this is where you want to be? The present becomes a faded copy of the past.
If that's how you spend your life? Worrying about time will only waste time.
We spend our lives giving and taking bits of life away.
You really do have a knack for summing up the harshness of reality and putting it into writing. "You're frightened of life and you're frightened of dying" is my favorite part. And I like the title, but it's not as 'catchy' (what a vulgar term, sorry) as some of your previous titles.
The motif of time in this just blows me.
The title is profound in its self -I suppose it fits perfectly. inadequate it is not.
The poem is filled with images and lines that I simply adore because they enlighten me. my favorite of them all:
"Memories are luggage that we carry around.
If only I knew how to be completely distant."
also the line:
"Too heavy hearted to live,
Too weak to die."
...is a truth i've finally connected to.
the detail of the poem is very lush and heavy.
One of my favorites.

Excellent piece! Time can collect many memories! Suppose the question is to do we live life in fear of hurtful happenings, or do we gather as many memories as we can!
We waste such an amount of time, don't we? This is has struck a nerve!
Kudos love! xx
I love the picture. It is perfect for this peace. You have some really unique strong lines here that cause one to ponder and remember past slights. Too heavyhearted to live, too weak to die. I really feel that. "terrible things happen to us all." I wish we could remember this and be a little kinder and finally "Losing ourselves for another side of life in someone else's shoes" As a military wife I really feel this line. I think you have inspired my next write. I think this is brilliant. Thank you.
Wow, a really fantastic write!! For me, it would be so great to change the past for the better. If i had the chance to go back in time to make a right, then i would do it in a heartbeat. And everything else here makes complete sense as well. Time, i think, is our biggest enemy. Great work!!
This poem exposes much heavyness within the heart and I can relate to it
in relation to what ever life has brought to the individual.
I also see depression or anxiety within this poem.
It is raw and truthful and very well written within its boundry of how the world is being viewed.
"Everything is more complicated than you think. You only see a tenth of what is true
There are a million little strings attached to every choice you make. You can destroy your life every time you choose. But maybe you won't know for 20 years and you may never, ever trace it to its source. And you only get one chance to play it out. Just try and figure out your own divorce.
And they say there is no fate, but there is, it's what you create. And even though the world goes on for eons and eons you are only here for a fraction of a fraction of a second. Most of your time is spent being dead or not yet born. But while alive, you wait in vain wasting years for a phone call or a letter or a look from someone or something to make it all right. And it never comes, or it seems to, but it doesn't really. So you spend your time in vague regret or vaguer hope that something
good will come along.Something to make you feel connected. Something to make
you feel whole.Something to make you feel loved. And the truth is I feel so angry. And the truth is I feel so f*****g sad. And the truth is, I've felt so f*****g hurt for so f*****g long. And for just as long, I've been pretending I'm okay just to get along, just for--
I don't know why. Maybe because no one wants to hear about my misery because they have their own.Well, f**k everybody.Amen.Amen. "
