My Life as a PuddleA Poem by Sweet & Tender HooliganInspired by Morrissey; childhood, dreams; love lost, childhood friends; family, true friends; true love, hope; all things Twee and the Swedish movie 'My Life as a Dog'. Written December 2008.
I feel strange,
Memories that were vaporise (Passing through me to you) Moon rose from the shore, Lacing the sky with hope When you go, you reappear. Time downpours into poetry (Holding onto dreams) Falling asleep alone. I’ll hold on to you And tell you everything Because you love stories. Cherished dreams drain my eyes, Patiently forming my heart. I tried; I forget, I got stronger (I died) I came back to life, I don’t feel the same. (Don’t be hard on yourself) I don’t want to let you down, I won’t let you down I know you tried hard, I don’t want to forget you. (It’s difficult but we’re stronger) I’m glad I found you on the other side of my pain. The rich are big birds playing hide and seek in the dark (Flickering glass candle wings decorate empty journal pages) The stars in the sky reflect the worms on the ground. Blindfolded little birds alight the stars playing with worms, Following the pack exhausting our hearts with eyes closed. Falling, everything we see and feel flows somewhere into the plot Every, everything stems from a dream (you were there) Rising up from the golden leaved sadness and fears, I close my eyes and see what I love (and saw you there) Riding bicycles, window shopping and exploring between the lines. Kicking up days; jumping into hours, Splashing seconds (Hours turn into days) I tell you everything because you love stories, Clouds open up everything’s true it can’t be a story. Little boys jump into puddles; going back absorbing everything, Dragged along like water in a well (I never planned on waking) Flowers shuffled like friends, petals scatter like childhood friends. Tears for a true love sound asleep, there’s no need to cry tears for love lost, I’ve found love letters (not needed to be written) grow where others left Little boys jump into puddles, grow up and become little puddles. © 2010 Sweet & Tender HooliganAuthor's Note
