Gray Rain

Gray Rain

A Poem by Drjgreddick

Just before the sun to rise the temperature drops indiscernibly; why?

A baby is born w/ only 2 fears: falling & sudden loud noises that end in tears & for help they cry.

The snow falling is pure & white, raindrops should be only clear,

both come from clouds of gray.

The snow is the starkest of white’s white, even in the moonlight….

it lifts our spirits high.

Seen is the flash & begins a count for the distance before the clash of thunder;

not wet at’all yet become drenched & dampened by the seemingly gray rain….

moods downwardly spiral in melancholic shades of the blues & gray, the surroundings & air drearily damp, earthy & as dark umber.

Alone & w/only old Taylor tuned to E attempts at somber melodies

& some meaningful thoughts but mine & guitar’s voices & chosen chords project chillingly the same.

Is there to be for me ahead somehow,

again the flowering fields far beyond the forming puddles & small rushing eddies,

a promise of the faintest of hope’s rainbow?

I just don’t know!!! It just doesn’t seem so now.

One may sadly say;

“such a damn gloomy day.”

The gray rain makes me want to weep, imprisoned too inside my head & to whom can like me confide?

I imagine nakedly to step outside, wash away from my face & being the irrational pain, the fears, the tears to hide,

some self-dignity keep.

Damn this melancholy it brings,

the sad songs I want to of sing, hidden memories’ stings;

damn the day of perpetual gray rain & feeling these shades of gray.
