Burdened Guilty Pleasures

Burdened Guilty Pleasures

A Poem by Dushyant Thadani

A little guilty pleasure
Keeps us happy
But its forbidden happiness
In our own terms

These keep increasing
In our human life
They become like our drug
Devastating us all the time

The guilt which increases
With these pleasures
Can make us a slave
Carrying its burden

An occasional tear
Might trickle down
But we won't stop until
We are completely swallowed

These guilty pleasures
Are not a cure
They become a burden
Till the end of our time

This reminds me of my ex-girlfriend, who was addicted to the thrill that was disobeying her Mormon Bishop father. She was so AMOROUS, but when it came into the public, or mentioned around people she saw unfit. I was stuffed in the closet like a dirty condom you try to hide from everyone. Needless to say she was a psycho biatch. Great piece, made me think about life.

This is a beaut! So much imagery created from the simplicity. Of course, this poem has a lot of truth to it, which is part of why I like it.

There is often pain mingled with pleasure, far from the joy we are intended for. You've taken us into that place of regret that can haunt and tempt, but can never satisfy.

Guilty pleasures are really not a cure at all..
they always become a burden on us..
and this guilt always increases day by day..hurt us all the time..
i can easily relate to this piece of yours..
i really liked it:)
