Why is Life a Race?

Why is Life a Race?

A Poem by Dushyant Thadani
"

This is a question everyone adolescent wants an answer to. Lets hope that we get that answer as soon as possible.

"
Why have we made life a race?
Made it so important to take everyone out of pace
Why can't friends be trusted?
In this race called life, they want everyone busted
Why can't we ever feel free?
And just think of forgetting everything and sitting on a tree
Why can't we ever get rid of the pressure?
And feel like we have found a long lost treasure
Why is life such a race?
Which ends without anyone leaving behind a trace.

Dushyant, i think you have a fancy for trees. You always make your protagonists sit on trees. But jokes apart, it is a great poem. This is indeed a relevant issue. I remember the great Davies's famous lines " What is this life, if full of care .There is no time to stand and stare" . I know for myself that most of the times , when i want to do something, i cant because of the pressure of other things piled up which i need to address. Moreover competitive spirits all around have made life such a misery for all of us and we don't realize it often. Keep writing on such ideas..

We always feel like we need to keep running for life, yet I don't think we really stop and smell the flowers or even know why we are racing around.

this is so powerful! its almost scary how much i can relate to feeling like this. humans in their selfishness tend to make life a miserable experience for themselves because they think they need to be superior above all. but we don't, if we could all just come along side each other instead of trying to beat each other life would not be such a race. Fantastic poem! i love this!
