Reflections of Us

Reflections of Us

A Poem by David Scott
"

A romantic thought...

"

Upon the alter of our lives

I bring an offering

worth nothing,

without your love

The sacrifice of my self

unfit to feed the flames

of your need,

without desire

My passion

attentive and willing

is a useless insistence,

absent your readiness

The seed of my destiny

is a withering husk,

except for the fertility

your open heart provides

I offer you my everything;

not of a need to be completed,

simply knowing, without you

all I am is completely meaningless

In the final observation

I am only a man, and

you are only a woman...

Loving each other we become

Divine.

"...without you all I am is meaningless..."
I feel this is the main message. If we are not divine, what are we? Meaningless humans.
I chose this poem, out of all your poetry... because the title reminds me of something I said to my ex: we are mirrors of each other - reflections.

"You complete me" comes to mind even though I have never seen the movie. This is exactly how it is when you find that part of you that was missing. You might not have even realized it was missing but when you find it, it definitely is divine. Really good David.

Beautifully capturing the essence of love and what it would be like to live without that love. Each part becomes bigger than the whole and can only be it's full potential with the other half.
Great write.

Two halves make a whole. Everyone wants this feeling of completion, but you wrote it so beautifully, my friend
