Pretending

Everyone has pain. Especially those who seem to have none.

Why do you pretend?

 

Your smile captivates …

greedy for your warmth

a dark world bathes

in the presence of you,

blossoming in your radiance.

 

Blinded by their own pain…

nobody could possibly see

while staring into the sunshine of your face,

hidden within you, there is a chaos

held together

by the gravity of you.

 

After all…

there is no dark side of the sun.

Author's Note

I wanted to write a conclusion to this thought. However I just let it be as it is... You can fill in the blanks.

I have met those that you never see the truth. Only half truths in who they really are. Hiding behind the smile, but never really letting anyone close enough to see the truth.

I get your point, however, given the rotation of our Galaxy and Earth around the Sun, we can and have observed all sides of the Sun. Also,by the very nature and composition we know it emits energy in all directions...
The point being, we place ourselves and each other on pedestals. In the final analysis, we are at present mortal humans with failings and pains. We all suffer and we all have a darkness we must face. So, while pretending can be beneficial, one is led to ponder why we persist with facade with those who would embrace All of who we are?
Thus the poem... No slight intended for her majesty the Moon. 😉

By which I meant an unenlightened side, but I believe I have that as well. We all have a bit of primal beast or there we be no room to maneuver around all of those pedestals.

You are correct sir. Those who wear a mask and look for the world to have no problems are the ones who are haunted by the mask they wear so well. We all have impressions of people that are totally off, just the same as their thoughts don't always match up to what we see of ourselves. So many opinions, they can't all be right, can they?

Being right is a futile pursuit... Being present and transparent to the truth you have found would be more productive. We tend to place people, relationships, leaders, celebrities, etc... on pedestals. Everyone has needs and has dark hours they must endure. It is good to remember the frailty of those we interact with every day as well as their strengths.

Many wear masks of happiness hoping to not bring down those around them or "not let them in" but no one is immune from darkness, even on a bright sunny day. Really good David.

Nice analogy, no-one can see what dark chaos that may be inside of the sun, only the incandescent light radiating from it. As no-one can see darkness or pain inside of another person who would much rather radiate positivity to the world than let it be seen.
