Pretending

Pretending

A Poem by David Scott
"

Everyone has pain. Especially those who seem to have none.

"

Why do you pretend?

Your smile captivates …

greedy for your warmth

a dark world bathes

in the presence of you,

blossoming in your radiance.

Blinded by their own pain…

nobody could possibly see

while staring into the sunshine of your face,

hidden within you, there is a chaos

held together

by the gravity of you.

After all…

there is no dark side of the sun.

I wanted to write a conclusion to this thought. However I just let it be as it is... You can fill in the blanks.

Blinded by their own pain…
nobody could possibly see
while staring into the sunshine of your face,
hidden within you, there is a chaos
held together
by the gravity of you.

This describes me. I hide behind a mask.

We all do to some extent. Thank you for joining the "conversation".
I have met those that you never see the truth. Only half truths in who they really are. Hiding behind the smile, but never really letting anyone close enough to see the truth.

Like in the "Wizard of Oz", who is really behind the curtain.

Just my ramblings as I wait for my thought process to start working, but well done and gave me visions, right or wrong.

There is no dark side of the sun? How do you know? Have you been there?
There is no dark side of the moon either, only a trick of shadow and light
In all chaos, there is order. In all order, chaos.
Opposites define one another.

You are correct sir. Those who wear a mask and look for the world to have no problems are the ones who are haunted by the mask they wear so well. We all have impressions of people that are totally off, just the same as their thoughts don't always match up to what we see of ourselves. So many opinions, they can't all be right, can they?

The correct line. I copied and pasted this time. Sorry about typos on first review. I didn't realize until I read it. Excellent writing very creative!!!!!!!!

Well done!!!!! I guess we all hide our feelings from time to time. When someone asks how are you, and
we reply just fine.... Are we? I've done that many times. I could be worried about something and say everything is fine. I love the line-----hidden with you, thee is a chaos held together by the gravity of you.

Very interesting. Excellent poem. I related.....

Many wear masks of happiness hoping to not bring down those around them or "not let them in" but no one is immune from darkness, even on a bright sunny day. Really good David.

Ha... I see what you did there. ;) Punny little bunny.
Nice analogy, no-one can see what dark chaos that may be inside of the sun, only the incandescent light radiating from it. As no-one can see darkness or pain inside of another person who would much rather radiate positivity to the world than let it be seen.
Lovely poem.
