If I Missed You

If I Missed You

A Poem by David Scott
"

A longing... A heart cry.

"

If I missed you

Tactility would be numb,

feeling nothing beneath life’s nakedness;

while every brush tickles a promised caress,

flesh longing to be held

trembling in your arms.

Every morsel tasted would awaken my mouth,

watering these dry lips

confining my impatient tongue,

hungry to taste you again.

Fragrant, tangy bouquets might waft a memory lost

held in a subconscious void,

now piercing a vivid scent

transforming into a conscious need.

Music’s acoustic swing,

vibrations of sound

felt as much as heard,

could leave me quivering

as if your voice were still

a whisper in my ear.

Visions blinding the soul

softly bleeding colors contoured into one image;

focused on every line and curve

shadow or twinkled light,

squinting to catch a glimpse of  you.

I  would be a living sacrifice

undesiring of tastes or smells,

unfulfilled with sights, sound, or touch;

absent of you…

Your kiss would ignite the flame

consuming my soul’s poverty,

burning as incense

an offering to satisfy

the jealousy of my desire.

This is a lovely journey of longing and subtle passion using the five senses. The deprivation and need for another-- "poverty" was a great description for it. Glad I stopped by.

Thank you for your time and for reviewing my poem.
"Your kiss would ignite the flame consuming my soul’s poverty," Great lines, this was soft and had a desperate feel to it. To lose a love such as this can be devastating, it hurts the heart, loneliness becomes a way of life as we are blind to all arounds us, only seeing that which we long for. Great love poem.

Beautiful and creative write asking what it would be like to miss you. The title itself with the if at the beginning, suggests this is only a thought of what it would be like, but captures the intensity of loss like it has already happened. That person then, may be what is called a keeper then.
Great build up from first to last, with a perfect end line. Nicely done.

You're very welcome. and thank you again for yours. Always nice to meet a like talent!
Love this deep can be a blessing or a curse. A blessing if found and held and a curse if always outside your reach.

Well done. Beautiful words the flowed gently across the mind with nothing but the feeling of true love.
