If I Missed You

If I Missed You

A Poem by David Scott
"

A longing... A heart cry.

"

If I missed you

Tactility would be numb,

feeling nothing beneath life’s nakedness;

while every brush tickles a promised caress,

flesh longing to be held

trembling in your arms.

Every morsel tasted would awaken my mouth,

watering these dry lips

confining my impatient tongue,

hungry to taste you again.

Fragrant, tangy bouquets might waft a memory lost

held in a subconscious void,

now piercing a vivid scent

transforming into a conscious need.

Music’s acoustic swing,

vibrations of sound

felt as much as heard,

could leave me quivering

as if your voice were still

a whisper in my ear.

Visions blinding the soul

softly bleeding colors contoured into one image;

focused on every line and curve

shadow or twinkled light,

squinting to catch a glimpse of  you.

I  would be a living sacrifice

undesiring of tastes or smells,

unfulfilled with sights, sound, or touch;

absent of you…

Your kiss would ignite the flame

consuming my soul’s poverty,

burning as incense

an offering to satisfy

the jealousy of my desire.

The structure in this is perfect. Each line and stanza is perfectly written, and flows beautifully all the way through. So enjoyable to read and has great vocabulary.

Thank you for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Your work is so beautiful to read. This one as well, somehow, even though longing to me is painful, you made this uplifting. So far all I have read that you wrote has been uplifting.

Overwhelmingly romantic. The power of the longing in every line is absolutely heady. Longing can blind the soul and take over all thought. What a wonderful write this is. Lydi**

Aloha,

This one speaks to me of the heart breaking possibility of not knowing or having the one your soul craves for.

Very nicely penned.

Thank you for the review.
Very good. You captured the ache for intimacy well. Vivid imagery and the poem “flows.” All humans have that need to touch one another, both physically and spiritually.

I don't know what to say. I think romance must be your middle name.
