A Poem by David Scott
"

Just a snap shot of perspective.

"

Meaning

Hidden,

Tucked carefully, tenderly, and neatly away,

Or, strewn about our disorderly compartments,

Dumped carelessly as discarded lumps of psychic garbage,

Each sacred soul guards a unique cipher.

A flower,

Germinated from a seemingly dead husk,

Drinking invisible nutrition,

Expanding within utter darkness,

Eventually find the light.

A fish,

Spawned by some accident,

A random oocyte caught in a floating fertilization,

Temperature, current, predation, defies all odds,

Swishing a compliant tail as it propels toward its fate.

The entirety of our natural world cries out answers in this debate.

Even beyond this blue and green sphere,

Stars are “born” and galaxies spin,

A God, our God, may in fact be speaking.

Humankind,

This adaptable creature of sentience,

Clay formed sculptures of seduction,

Reason, creativity, and analytical thought,

Ride the hormone driven impulses.

Somehow, we reach an understanding.

Ah…

This is the epiphany,

The moment of now’s meaning,

An individual’s fantasy of reality,

Ever evolving into tomorrow’s understanding.

Sometimes we read someone's words and realise that Thought in this rush of so.called Life still exists, that people can ponder over the meanings of what by many, is ignored, overlooked.. a small seed, a small grain, a small thought..

Each. all or few can - with sustenance, grow into something more than worthy or, perhaps, and sometimes more likely, something to analyse and set aside for another time or to send to the pit of has-taught-me-nothing-except-that-nothing-exists.

Enough of my thoughts, (never know if its the content or literary finesse one should eulogise over!)- the content of this really should set tongues wagging and minds working. The style is open yet traditional, every phrase has style. Tis great writing. And, i so appreciate those final four lines!

I like your scrap shot of perspective full of meaning to the way we live today without meaning.

Bravo ... one more veil to go. Tee hee ... sorry been dipping in the well of Buddhism these days. And this piece definitely gets the Buddhist seal of approval ... well mine ... and since we all one ... it's the same thing. Seriously though the word brilliant is well-deserved here.

A wonderful philosophical write from a talented poet and thinker. Other than the information stored in the universe, our DNA, all other creatures of life we find immense meanings and wisdom behind all of them. If humans stop and think carefully without bias or ignorance , they will find all meanings in this amazing universe....:)......Excellent....

A philosophical beauty, David! I had no idea you were posting again, but I am happy you are. It is amazing how certain species seem to survive against all odds. Humans are resilient beings. We trudge through the quick sand of life, ofttimes begrudgingly, yet we manage to make it through. With each problem we face, we learn. Life is a miracle, David....and the flower germinating from a seemingly dead husk does prove that to me. Not sure if I believe that it proves there is a G-d, but it does prove there is a reason for everything that happens. Sometimes we just can't see that reason. When we do, though, the epiphany is stunning. Such gentle observations of our world and the human condition. I enjoyed this. Lydi**
