Let me hold you

rest in these words

for just a moment

and fear nothing.

 

Your heart is wild

I can feel it racing

sensing the urgency

yet you stand frozen.

 

There now

feel the panic slip away

try your once broken wings

a little wobble is normal.

 

You are not meant to be kept

neither are you meant to fly away

you are always within this sanctuary

step forward without fear.

Just a little thought I put together after a lunch time conversation today. I hope it helps.

I have to admit that, when first reading the title, I expected the poem to have a quite different mood. What I discovered is, nonetheless, not a bit less interseting !
Using our words to soothe or heal the ones dear to us is just one of the gifts that writing endows us with, and, obviously, you make good use of it! :)

This is so inspiring, helping, and full of friendship Scott... Such an offering. I feel the safety and comfort of a "home"...There is nothing more amazing than to be with a person who can cast your fears away, who allows you to exercise true freedom : acting without detachment.

A true friend is one who doesn't take advantage of you, one who is merely there to give and to love. With your words you describe the beauty of friendship, in how the genuine concern for someone else overweighs the narrator's self-absorption within a pure moment, in which the heart, without effort, reaches out to another individual who matters more, by feeling. It is so beautiful when a person is capable of putting his ego aside in an act of empathy and compassion for another life.. Wonderful poetry. :)

Thank you for reading Michelle. When you care about someone, it is natural and easy. We need to show our own hearts this kind of love too... Often we are healed, but we still limp along with the memory of the pain when we could be striding strong. Friends help us with this aspect as well I think.
