The Road of SorrowA Poem by Drifter
Start with an avalanche of broken promises,
fresh from the lips of a bittersweet soul mate. Head along the path of failed temptation, where we gave in to running away. Take the turn at heartache's crossroads, where our buried truths laid in death's throes. Continue down the road of wilted memories; their brittle edges crumble with time. Stumble over the echoes of a kiss, so tender on the lips, but jagged on our heels. Pause at the gates of remembered sorrows, and glimpse the dream of your faded touch. Set foot into the graveyard of forgotten love; this is where you cut your heart's strings. Kneel at the stone near love's open grave; it's waiting for the ghosts of you. Climb into the tomb of the lover and turn the page to begin it all again. © 2011 Drifter |
