Frosted JourneyA Poem by Drew S.My boots hit the ground and I quiver at every crack Every step makes the entire body of water ache A desert of ice is all one sees when they look back How can I make it from the middle of the this lake I'm too far, it'll be useless if I try to backtrack Trying to grasp my body as it begins to shake Moving forward, hands clutching tighter to my large pack Slung on my shoulder it's protecting every keepsake Weighing me down closer to that turquoise tinted, black Sitting under the ice, the mouth of a giant snake And all my movements just tempt the serpent to attack I must move through this blizzard everything is at stake Dignity is all I'll hold when I truly awake
