Alone

Alone

A Poem by Drew Peterson

Sitting here against the wall

Feeling unwanted

Unloved.

No one to

Cuddle

With!

No one to share

The good times

With

All the

Emotions

Gone.

Away

About to scream

Hoping some

One will

Hear.

I love the structure of the writing. The emphasis on the last word, i believe, is what ties it all together. wonderful words, put together like a perfect little puzzle.

I found myself reading this piece several times over, its structure is just so entrancing. I don't often play around with structure in my writing, because in truth I am no good at it, so when I see someone doing - and doing it well, such as this - I really get fascinated.

I like how each word is almost alone in the poem, each seems far away from the one before it, really lends a great power to the piece. Without having to get mired in complex metaphors or allegory. Really bravo on that front!

The subject matter of course is easy to relate to. I mean who hasn't at some point in their life felt so utterly alone, bereft of any affection, even friendly affection let alone love! A heart wrenching subject which is clearly and powerful conveyed through the poem's structure.

I tip my hat to you.

Congratulations and please keep writing,
A.E.
