A Child's FallA Poem by DrewBerryI wrote this poem in the waiting room of my son's therapist. It took me all of ten minutes as my gut wrenched through the tears that day. There is no sadness greater for a mother than to bear her own child's pain.. or worse, UNABLE TO BEAR HIS PAIN.. Wrenching in agony at the self loathing heart of one loved so much.
Why doesn't he love himself just a breath? If my love alone could suffice, then there would be no deficiencies. No deficits.
'It's not your fault little child' whispers the joyous peaceful trumpet. Yet the inner voice of Pandora sways sensations of faith fulfilled. Blissful promises unfold to a new dawn... too soon laid to rest.. The overpowering pressure for acceptance, validation of one's humanness..
'I AM SOMEONE'
Worthy. LOOK at me! Touch me, I am real and worth your time.. Surely not to disappoint in your need to tend to their ways. Shape shifter.. People Pleaser.. Until the pleasing' pales thinner than the rewards it holds in store.. Yearning for completion in the eyes of human emotion. Feed him, but also do quench. Satiate his restless lonely spirit. May enough be enough at some some point in time??
Whether through self fruition or harried help from places unseen. The metamorphosis must occur; the Chrysalis must bloom after all..
Oh let your beauty shine little one. Believe in yourself so others may see as I do, your great potential.. a destiny for more than mediocrity.. Life with vigor and release. Peace.
Come to me child. Rest your breath on my bosom and bask in your mothers pure love. You will become a great worrier; conquering all challenges life throws your way. No demons shall prevail for you are protected by a mighty shield.
Let go of yourself my precious one. Allow yourself to be pried open to the flowing waters recovering. There is healing in the flood of compassion coming your way.
Release your fears and fall backwards in a test of trust. Will you allow yourself to be caught? Wondering, will you be caught?
Innocence lost at much too young to matter so they say.. he'll be okay. but I can never tell if they are saying or asking. © 2008 DrewBerryAuthor's Note
