One Man's PleaA Poem by DrewBerryThis poem was written for a dear friend in a sad and lonely marriage.Defenses block my message through My meanings misconstrued To serve your purpose & need for validation
Unheard and unseen these many days; years in fact I look back to the emptiness Existing, but not living Who am I to you anyway? Why do we stay?
Looking for purpose in the day to day I've become a mighty shield The protector of innocence not yet lost Measuring the cost Knowing the need out weighs the reward that waits beyond
Treading water through the colors of my existence I run to stay near, without fear But with conviction, my plan becomes clear
Alone in our togetherness Avoiding the trespasses of being the infidel I remain true; though blue Knowing what could be, with these words I plea for change Acknowledgement of my worth and value to your life -- My wife
Can't you see me? I am here, opening my heart to you Giving it every shot, a chance for betterment So spent and tired Needing some ease
My plea to you is to hear me, see me, Feel, love and acknowledge me I am here and worthy of your affections Willing to give you all I have Here's our chance - Take it please Let's make it be more that it's been
Can't you love me just a little more? Knowing the score is meaningless otherwise No blame or shame, just some movement please One way or the other Need to know. Or go Can't you see my need as a man? I know you can, but will you? © 2008 DrewBerryAuthor's Note
