La Morte d'ÉgalitéA Poem by Dressed in PoetryAngry comments from every corner - Sighs and rants and screams of fury. Newscasters chanting gleefully as they Burn peace signs alongside civility. Rolling eyes and clever smirks And gestures of frustration From every side, As people do not understand Why “the other side” doesn’t understand. But who can comprehend their Insane shrieking babble? In the meantime, Democracy tries (Vainly) To raise her hand and speak for a moment - To stop the fighting. Instead, she is trampled in the riot. Those who try to save her With calm words and logic Merely end up imprisoned By the first amendment With the bars of free speech surrounding As they weep for liberty For equality Lost. © 2010 Dressed in PoetryAuthor's Note
