Vocabulary Lesson

Happiness is

                Laying out on a park bench with

The sun’s warmth pulling you deeper

Into peace and serenity.

Beauty is

                The single flower plucked from its root

                And sent flying into the Oklahoma wind

                To be juxtaposed against the cold road.

Acceptance is

                Believing that all opinions – even the ones

                Of the boy in the corner of the coffee shop –

                Are validated by some account of morality.

Rhythm is

                Stepping alongside the

                Random Fats Waller tune

                Beating within your heart.

Friendship is

                The wave you give to the person

                You said hello to in the elevator who later

                Hugged you when you were sad.

Honesty is

                Admitting that you have a secret love

                For heavy metal, lighthearted showtunes,

                And smooth piano music.

Bravery is

                The willingness to make some random

                Strangers who were in the room do the

                Time Warp again and again.

Fun is

                Buying one hundred dollars in movies

                Because you want to be able to

                Have marathons with your friends.

Laughter is

                Four o’ clock trips to Wal-Mart for

                Absolutely nothing more than a reason

                To avoid all work.

Peace is

                Shutting your eyes while swinging

                At midnight as your feet never

                Quite reach the tree high above.

Independence is

                Going anywhere with anyone to do

                Anything you please and having a constant

                Smile upon your face because of it.

Spontaneity is

                Striking up a conversation

                Over a Venti Soy Quad Caramel

                Macchiato and becoming friends.

Faith is

                Knowing that no matter where you go

                And what trouble you manage to get into,

                Someone will be there to help you along.

Love is

                The all-consuming feeling that even though

                This moment may not be perfect, it is

                Good enough to treasure forever.

I liked the way you brought the entiure meaning, form passion into light
with such lightehearted, blissful knowledge, and leaves the reader feeling
what it is to be in the moment as well as not taking for granite the simple
pleasures in oife then in the end effect our hearts the most, the layout
accentuated the script, beautifully written and well expressed. great job
