TrainwreckA Poem by Dressed in Poetry
Introducing The character Who changes nothing - Who enters stage left - Plays the part, Says the soliloquy, Then leaves the stage Amidst the scattered applause. Dreaming Of one day Being the part That changes the fate Of everyone - Of everything - But knowing that Waking From the dream Is a death worse than Death itself - For at least in the temporary sleep, There is a guarantee of A dream, but the Sentencing Of a lifetime of dreams, Only to be faced with An eternity of nothing Is worse than having No dreams at all. Medicating The physical, only to harm The spiritual, and never to Help the mental or the emotional - No, the medications only save A certain aspect, The physicality of The character, and never The character himself. Purging The bad, only to Release it into the air Around you, to latch Onto those you care about. Relapsing, Allowing the evil To return to hide inside, Knowing that if it lies Within you, it cannot harm Everyone else. Recovering, Taking control of the vices And letting them live - But not thrive - So that the good may Occasionally win the day. Composing The sweet melodies, Singing them to the air, So that your Disintegrating Self may experience happiness Before falling and careening Ever lower. Healing One last time - Allowing yourself One last hope - Before finally collapsing Into the darkness and Dying. © 2008 Dressed in PoetryAuthor's Note
