My Desire

My Desire

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Sometimes I just want to scream –
“SHUT UP” –
Until I go hoarse,
But I know you will never listen,
So instead I howl
Pretend statements
Into your ears,
Dreaming that I
Had actual things
To yell at you instead.

Sometimes I just want to fight –
Stand up –
Until I have no more strength,
But I know you will never feel it,
So instead I throw
Imaginary darts
Into your face,
Wishing that I
Had tangible things
To hit you with instead.

Sometimes I just want to stop –
Give up –
Because I have nothing to keep me going,
But I cannot let you win,
So instead I succumb to
Cumbrous anger
And hope that one day,
I will be able to
Have something else
To live for instead.
