Ennui

Ennui

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry
"

The word of the day is "ennui".

"

She drifted through life
Upon a raft crafted from
Experience and love,
Yet she always wondered
What was missing.
It was like the link that bound her
To the knowledge of life’s secrets
Was completely gone,
But somehow she felt that at one point,
Long ago,
She had that link in her hands,
Blindly cast it aside,
Not knowing what it was,
And now she could not find it again.
So currently, currently,
She just floats along,
Supported by faint dreams and flurries,
All she has is merely a flutter,
A shadow of what could have been,
Because she let her life
Become filled with spiritless ennui
And melancholy fancies
Instead of fiery passion
And daring aspirations.

This is a fantastic poem with great imagery and a great message. It really does float along as you read it capturing the emotions of the subject. Nice. NH

=) im such a nerd, but this part has amazing alliteration:
She just floated along,Supported by faint dreams and flurries,All she has is merely a flutter
