Daylight Savings

Daylight Savings

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Sure, everyone loved the day,
But not as much as she did.
She would prepare weeks in advance,
Getting ready for her leap,
Knowing subconsciously that she would
Only be disappointed,
But preparing herself anyway,
Just in case.
For this day –
The day everyone set their clocks back
And celebrated one extra hour of sleep –
This day was the only day of the year
That she got the chance
To fix all of her mistakes,
To go back into time
And make everything right.

Every year she prepared,
And every year she was disappointed.
For although the clocks were set back,
And she was given the change to go into the past,
She could never quite fix
Any of the mistakes she had made.

So now, when they ask her
What she would do if she was given the
Chance to go back into time,
She merely smiles sadly,
And replies that she is given that opportunity
Every year
And every year, nothing changes.
