Simple Chemistry

Simple Chemistry

A Poem by Dressed in Poetry

Opposites attract
(Like the negative and positive ends of a polar molecule,
We are strangely attracted in a kind of dipole-dipole force).
It’s simple Chemistry:
The negative never ends up with a negative,
Which is somewhat good for you and I,
For we are two completely different people
(Perhaps similar seeming on the outside,
But we have different reactions when
Mixed with a chemical-
I explode, like sodium thrown into water,
While you have a more peaceful reaction,
Similar to that of hydrochloric acid and magnesium).

So maybe the attraction will stay,
Unless it is like a London dispersion force:
Only momentary, instantaneous,
Eventually dissolved.
Perhaps I should stop trying to find
The chemical formula for everything
And just go with what happens,
Flowing like a fluid
Through every gaping hole
We come to.

ooh, I like this and I never understood simple chemistry. I could edit a sentence with the best of them, though. This is a great kind of love poem.
