I must have been a fool that night; I know that’s how I felt

As I recall how radiant you looked and how wonderful you smelt

And I stood there an eternity and said not one thing,

Just standing there smiling trying to suppress the raging storm within.

Within my heart, my head, my very soul itself aflame,

As I watched you I repeated to myself the melody of your name

 

But if I can’t speak of what I feel

Then why do I deserve

To get a chance to make it real

If I can’t work up the nerve.

 

I write this much more easily than I ever could have said

With my pen striking paper the words flow from my heart to my head

They say time heals all wounds, let me just say that’s not true,

No amount of time could ever heal the blow I got from falling in love with you

And that’s what love is, just falling no fuss, no mess, no qualms,

Hoping the one you love will be there to catch you in their arms.

I’m young but I’ve had my share of love and this much I know is true;

The word “love” can never truly express what I feel for you.
