My Only Gift.

My Only Gift.

A Poem by Endless Flight

Here I lay, covered in snow,
Broken, shattered, bleeding,
I can feel the world fade away..

Who am I anyways?
No-one, a nobody.
No-one will cry for me,
No-one will remember me..

The cold is infecting me,
I feel myself go numb with pain,
Loneliness and grief overwhelm me...

But, wait-
What is this?
This light, this warmth....

Can it be?
Has someone actually noticed me?
Has someone come to see me off?

I have always been a whisper in a crowd,
No-one hears me or sees me,
But now I have come to realize something...

It was my fault.
All my fault.
I should have tried harder...

Yes, I should have!
That is it!
Oh, stranger! I finally understand!

I am dying,
And it is only in the face of death,
Do I finally realize...

Here! Take my gift, dear stranger!
Take it and use it well.
As my last wish!

Take it and make the world understand!
Make them cry for mocking me and you!
Take it and shine!

Dear stranger, thank you.
I leave you with my only gift.
My parting gift...

Now the cold doesn't seem numb,
No - it feels nice,
It feels relaxing, calming, sweet...

Thank you for accepting my gift,
It's the only thing I have,
And I give it to you, dear stranger.

Its a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
For my sake, use it to the fullest.
It is the gift of life.
